A Wee Bit Quieter....

.... but not a lot. Sigh I do not know what my MH is putting in her muesli but it is making her do an awful lot of house work. She told my DH that it is still very 'stoory' (dusty) after the workmen were here and she needs to get it all clean again, so he just said OK and disappeared into the greenhouse! Wise old DH! I did follow him a couple of times and it was good, but he doesn't talk to me as much as my MH does, so I just wandered back inside again and it was then that I got a surprise 'cos there was a strange man in my house. Well, the man wasn't strange, you understand, it was just that I didn't know him, so he was strange to me. I think my MH must have known him or she wouldn't have let him in, would she?

Anyway, I had a good old sniff at this man and he was very nice to me and let me sit on his knee for a while as I got plenty of sniffs and I listened very carefully as my humans told him about all the stories I write and all about my paw pal club and he thought it was just the brilliantest thing he had ever heard. I think he will be one of my bestest friends now.

When he went away, my MH went back to do her cleaning and today she was working in my bedroom and I liked it a lot 'cos I could lie on my little bed and listen to her as she talked to me all the time she was playing with her dusters, so it was OK really.

I'm afraid I gave my MH a fright this afternoon 'cos she she couldn't find me again and she was very worried. We had been sitting together having a chat and then she had to move, so I had to move too and when she was finished what she was doing, she looked for me but couldn't find me anywhere in the house. She asked my DH if he had let me out but he said 'no' and they were both puzzled. The poor old dear looked everywhere---in the big cupboard and in all the rooms and she even looked in one of the drawers! Well, I do have a habit of nipping into any open spaces so she thought she would give it a try, but no luck.

The old boy was dispatched to look in the greenhouse and the gym and my MH went to look in one of the bedrooms and when she was coming into my living room, there was me coming out of it. Oh she was happy, but she still doesn't know where I had been, and I ain't telling. Hee hee

I got another surprise this afternoon when my friend S. came to my house. She said she needed my MH to help her, but I know she only came to see me 'cos she loves me millions.

And that, my dear friends, is so very understandable, is it not? :-)))

A Normal Type of Monday

It started off like most Mondays with the alarm going off and my DH springing out of bed while me and my MH lay and had a chat for a while to let him get peace to get ready to go to the Cat Shop and then we got up too.

There are still lots of tools and bits of stuff lying about, but according to the Boss, they will all be put away tomorrow and I think that might be an order!

I had a quick perambulation round my garden and then went back inside just in time to sit on my MH's knee and lap up the last of her milk from her cereal and then we went and did her exercises and all was very peaceful---but just for ten minutes I'm afraid. As you know, Monday is housework day, but because there has been so much going on, the old dear decided that some places needed an extra clean and she ran round the house with hoovers and dusters and steaming machines like something possessed! I decided that if I didn't want vacuumed or dusted or steamed I would be better on my bed, so I took my adorable little self into my bedroom and had a lovely nap until she was finished!

We did manage a seat on the couch for a while and had another of our girlie chats which I always love and then I got a surprise when she made some stovies for her and my DH and I got a wee drop of mince which I gobbled up very quickly 'cos it was so very, very good.

A while later I went back to playing with my little mouse and I had some really good fun. I have been playing inside a lot 'cos it is quite cold outside and I prefer to be cosy, so I have decided that I will pick a different toy every day and play with that until it gets warmer outside.

I think that is a very good plan, don't you? At least night times in my house are quiet and peaceful and I can sit on any knee I choose and both my humans are on hand all night to do whatever I ask of them.

And that is just how it should be.

Another Yippee

And an even bigger one than yesterday although I must admit I have been a little bit unsettled today which has rather upset the old dear 'cos she doesn't know what is causing it or what to do with me. But it will get better. I promise.

Anyway, back to the double yippee. All the work is finished and it is just clearing up now so that made me happy. My MH had lots of time for me and we played with some of my toys for a long time. Remember I told you that I always go back to my toys, and don't forget about them? Well, I did that today. Once upon a time, my friend J. sended me a little mouse---a cloth one, not a real one 'cos you couldn't stick a stamp onto a real one, could you!---and that's what I was playing with today, and I loved it all over again, as you can see.

I got my usual surprise on a Sunday when my friend S. came to see me and she bringed my MH a little chocolate rabbit which the old dear let me have a wee look at before she put it back on the table. All fine so far. So, after the humans had their little chat, my MH took S. in to see our new bathroom and when they were away, the little rabbit jumped off the table and landed on the floor beside me to have a little chat. That, my dear friends, is my story and unless you can prove otherwise, I am sticking to it!

We are going to settle down now and watch the tennis to see if Andy can win. I hope so 'cos I like him so my adorable little paws are crossed. In fact, right this minute, they are crossed over my little nose as I am sleeping but sending my MH sleep thoughts about what I want her to write and she is so clever that she gets it right every single time!

Yippee

Can you guess why I am happy? All the work in my bathroom is finished and apart from some little bits of work, my humans have told me that all their time is now for ME! I am an ecstatic little puss. I was born to be cuddled and pampered and I have so missed that while the humans have been busy, but I know for a fact that I will be the centre of attention for ever 'cos I heard my DH tell the Boss that he will never touch another paintbrush or roller ever again! I did a little cartwheel when I heard that! What a shame my MH and her camera missed me! Hee hee

It hasn't been a very good day on my little island so I have just been out for little trips and every time I come in I have to wait for my MH to dry me as my adorable little body has been quite wet and I don't like that much but by the time she is finished I feel a lot better and I usually give her a big purr to say thank you.

I still have my bit of string from yesterday and today's picture is me in attack mode and I am just about to spring on the string and give it a great big fright. I just love bits of string and every Friday I get a new bit so I am a very lucky puss. There is no expense spared on my presents.

I didn't see my duck friends today. Maybe they were here when we weren't looking or maybe it was just too wet for them. I shall look again tomorrow. My MH says she will put a picture of our new bathroom on so that you can see what they have been doing and we all want to wish you a happy Easter and hope you get lots of lovely eggs!

Still Happy

... but still busy, I'm afraid. I am happy and my humans are busy, but I have been promised that all the work will soon be finished and then it is Squeak time FOREVER! I am trying to be patient, but every now and then I look a wee bit sad and my MH stops what she is doing to play with me so I can't complain really.

Me and my MH made my DH laugh when he came back from the boat at lunch time 'cos he had lots of boxes with all our groceries in them and he had one from the butcher which he put on the floor to cut the string. I sat right beside him and just watched him and he said to my MH that he thought I could smell the meat, but my MH knows me better than that so she just shooked her head and told him that maybe I wanted the string. He didn't think so, but as soon as the string was cut, yours truly jumped on it and ran away with it and this time it was my DH who shooked his head! Oh, my MH was SO happy 'cos she just loves it when she is right!

I played with my bit of string for a long time and my MH helped me so I did have a good afternoon, but then I fell asleep on my couch and missed a wee surprise 'cos I had visitors at my gate and I missed them.

The three ducks came waddling up to my gate again and although my humans saw them, my MH said I was looking so peaceful that she didn't want to waken me, but she has asked them to come tomorrow so maybe I will see them then. I hope so 'cos I love meeting new friends and I have never chatted to a duck before. I wonder if I will understand 'duck' and will they know that I am friendly? I shall find out and let you know.

My MH says she has a new word for you and it is 'waachle' and it describes how the ducks walk--swaying from side to side. It is a good word don't you think?

MUCH Happier

Yes, I am a much happier little Squeak today and that is because it hasn't snowed or hailed or winded on my little island and I have been able to get out to play lots and lots of times. You all know how I love being outside so you will understand why I am happy.

In a way it is just as well that the weather has been good 'cos my humans have been a tad busy today. The old boy has been sticking paper onto my bathroom walls and the old dear has been running after him and doing bits of cleaning so they haven't had too much time for me. I did manage out in my garden for a while with my MH just before she went away to the graveyard with our friend M. We went out early and my MH watched as I ran all over my garden and with one simply beautiful movement I was up the top of the clothes pole and she was laughing. It was lovely and warm so I just lay on my path until she came home again and when I saw her coming back I rolled and rolled and she laughed again. I like that!

Later on in the afternoon while we were sitting on my couch, we came up with an absolutely brilliant idea which I thought I would share with you. I told her I was happy that it wasn't as cold outside 'cos I don't like when my adorable little body gets thumped upon by hail and my MH said that she would make me a little coat to keep me warm. Then we went just a little step further and decided that she would make me a tiger coat or a lion coat and I could become like the Graemsay Loch Ness monster 'cos people would think that there was a baby tiger or a baby lion on my island and they would come for miles and miles to see me but then I would go back home and change into just Squeak again before they could catch me. Brilliant, is it not? We still have to finalise the finer points, but I think it is a fantastic idea. And, it would keep yours truly warm.

I was having a seat on my window sill when me and my MH saw the two boats in the sea and we thought you might like to see a picture of the little boat we have while our one is away getting its refit. It is called the Golden Mariana but my MH doesn't go on it very much 'cos it's not too easy for her to get on and off, but I am happy about that as it means she stays home with me.

Oh yes, my dear friends, I am MUCH happier! I hope you are happy too.

Ho Hum

Every morning I wake up and I spring out of my bed to look out of the window hoping to see the sun smiling at me, but these past few mornings I have just seen the snow on my windows, so I just have a nibble at my biscuits and spring back into bed again until it is time for my humans to get up.

I am not the happiest of Squeaks just now because it is so cold on my little island. I still go out, but I don't stay out long at all although at one point this afternoon I thought I would never get home again and of course I shall tell you what happened.

It was just us girls at home today as my DH had to go to Kirkwall to buy all the stuff he needs to finish the bathroom and I decided that I needed some fresh air, so I asked --very politely---to be let out and my MH opened the window and oft I went, but just as I was enjoying my exploration the hail came on. Oh my dear friends, it was bouncing all over my adorable little body and it was SORE! I was too far away from the window, so I flew as fast as I possibly could and did a dive under one of my pampas grasses that Tom Dailey would have been proud of! I had to sit there sheltering for a long, long time and when I eventually did get back in, my MH told me she was very worried about me but we gave one another a cuddle and made it all better.

I think I will be doing lots of little short trips outside as long as it stays cold, but I am still hoping that the sun will come out to play soon. Today's picture is of yours truly on one of my little rugs. I have been making my humans laugh a lot just now 'cos every time I decide to go for a nap, I choose a different place and my MH has to hunt the whole house looking for me and she said it is just like playing hide and seek, but she always finds me.

Thank goodness!
